BRIGHTON MARINA FISHING for the East and West breakwaters

BRIGHTON MARINA FISHING for the East and West breakwaters

didnt realise..

Wow, Tuesday already, I must be getting senile in my old age, days just seem to blur or vanish into each other. Id have put money on it being Monday this morning !
Madness !
Right so what is going on since I last posted some guff to get you all sprinting onto the walls. Well….
The may rot is seemingly at full strength and quite thick on the small tides as well as low water. the bigger tides are proving defo fishable and worth while. Plaice are coming out on both walls, on the west the lower bays tend to be best but there are also spots higher up that are producing but I will say the best numbers are on the EAST. Bass, for those that know their stuff, they are catching em, look around for them lure anglers, They look a bit like the dudes that throw feathers out at 1st glance until you realise they are using smaller & lighter rods and often stood away on their own. Give them a watch and then go say high, they often like to chat & share info.
what else do we have for you, well for the4 eagle eyed there is a cracking red mullet posted to the marina gallery, caught by regular Lee Demario on the east and was weighed at 1lb 11oz, probably the largest ive seen in 20+ years for the marina. Bream are there in decent numbers usually over the high as well as a few wrasse and rays,(mostly thornbacks.) All in all considering how the may rot in the past has killed the fishing , this year things have continued to improve. There have and are still occasional catches of mackerel in small flurries although the early catches this month of a cuttle or 2 and a couple of squid ended up turning into a non even and thus justifies my cancelling the squid comp this spring despite some grumbles !.

I really must summon up the energy to get down onto one of the walls to at least have a dabble and say hi to a lot of the regular faces(new & old) but my energy levels dont always match my ambitions of getting out & fishing, the brain is more willing than the body , BUT I keep saying soon, the gear is packed ready to go so, soon šŸ™‚
