Ok, so I spent the best part of the day with the wife so I only planned too do a swift visit yesterday although I ended up staying a bit longer than planned.
Needless too say I had forgotten about the eclipse and as I got too the west there were quite a few people there too watch it happening. Once we had got the general public off the wall there were quite a few anglers arriving for the night session and being as the west was looking quite busy I sorted closing the East wall.

Prior to going over there was a show up of a small shoal of Mackerel just out of casting distance (sods law) hence the title today. Unfortunately for those watching the fish chose not too come closer. It did prompt me too say too the dude I was talking too that I recon that horse mackerel will be around very quickly and before the sun fully sets…. Well on that one I was Bang on. No mackies on the west but as the sun was setting horse mac were slowly being caught.

At that point I headed over too the EAST wall (8.30 ish) too organise the close down. ironicly it seems either another shoal or perhaps the same that flitted over on the west put in a small show for a group of anglers on the east. Not many fish but Id say enough for them prior too packing down and the light going.

East wall shut I went back too the west too pick up a couple of items and unload the scooter of weights and rigs etc and I rapidly noticed that there were now plenty of horse mackerel coming up all along the wall including for those on the extension , yet it does open at night if numbers warrant it when no one has made a booking on there.
I didnt get any info how yesterday daytime went but got the impression that it had been fairly quiet and much the same as the last 5-6 daytime sessions had gone.

Could the mackerel finally be putting in an appearance ? 2-3 early evening sightings and a small flash/run yesterday morning. its much looking like (atm) that 1st & last light is when people may want too hedge their bets if they want some mackies!
