BRIGHTON MARINA FISHING for the East and West breakwaters

BRIGHTON MARINA FISHING for the East and West breakwaters

Happy sunday for some

Well tough old going by all accounts on both wall with a late flurry of some great pics posted to the facebook group and 2 pics used on the flatties gallery, on the east side tough going for most as i understand it & somewhat grim..
I spent the day tinkering on the west & a similar story unwraped, one or 2 fish during the day a couple of small plaice lower down.. 4ish a few mackerel got landed scattered along the wall, & wasnt really till 5ish that a small shoal flittered along the bend with a few decent mackerel taken by most .. all in all not what was expected & a tough old day.
A big heads up to kadir, if you read this .. was a pleasure to meet you again as always.
Matt 1st time ive seen you in over a year… damn man , what a change, impressive work you have put in, well chuffed to see the new you.

Sunday silly o’clock

plenty of mackerel being reported over the last 2 days with the pattern atm it seems of them hitting the west early ish then later in the day over on the east. It seems that their arrival have blotted out any reports of other catches for a day or two so ive decided to post a pic that Mark added to the marina facebook group of a lovely Gurnard caught while out on a trip with Robin Howard on Bif1.

wed dull n grey

Good morning world, yesterdays report of early mackerel shoals turned into a great day for those looking to grab, bag n run so to speak, the mackies continued all day , some squid were had on both walls and the plaice ticked over, not so many plaice asnd i suspect fewer targeting them…
This morning we have visitors from the I.O.W., arn’t we honoured šŸ™‚ mackies again on both walls & some nice plaice falling to the anglers, of which it seems are more plentiful today and less of the flying lead crews. Not heard of any squid at time of typing but that may change as the day goes on.
BAIT for the weekend sir ?
We have a limited supply of ragworm, this seems across the south coast at the moment with many shops in short supply. We highly advise booking as early as possible if u want to use ragworm this weekend. Our supply of black is good so no issues there.
Have a great bank holliday weekend folks and I may see some of you on the west Sat or enen Sunday šŸ™‚

Tues lunch

So woke up today to messages from the duty warden(phil) that there were mackerel shoals on both walls & hardly anyone fishing (irony after some fun on the FB group yesterday).. Things soon picked up & was sent plenty of pics to post on the facebook group (see soc media buttons for link/joining requires the question section completing) So we have the 1st shoals of the year on both walls with other catches of squid, garfish(yup early) shad and decent numbers of plaice. Sun mon were not that special with slow tick overs on both with some mackies on both walls here n there & reasonable amounts of flatties

Now signs of may rot drifting about but with the bigger tides there is plenty to catch still.
Seems that song is in the air …”here comes summer”,,….

Sat am roundup

not such a great week with easterlies dominating the weather, decent sunshine but cold in that wind and a reduction in catches. Plaice mostly keeping people going during the week & a mackerel hear n there. Friday saw mackerel & a few plaice (one decent low on the west for Kayleigh, pic on gallery) and I believe a squid or two. Duty warden this morning has reported plaice on both walls , a couple of squid on the west & some mackerel coming out lowish on the east wall …. Lets see what this weekend brings !

Sunday slowdown

So, after what seemed a great week on the plaice front the weekend has sorta slowed up quite a lot. Sat saw a few squid landed but the plaice fishing in general was quite a bit slower. Likewise Sunday seems to have followed Sat pattern and slowed right down. For those on the walls early it proved a long slow chilly start. Plaice ticking over but many small ones put back, highlight of the day I guess were 2 coal fish landed on the east. At time of typing things were quite tough going.
Updates this week on website have been in some cases cosmetic tweaks but i also have added another gallery section & updated some new pics… there is also a news/event page that ppl can message me with info on anything they feel would benefit the marina “news” page

its the plaice to be

This week has thrown up some cracking plaice with the best ones this week all over on the east though the west is producing also.
Squid are picking up in numbers with local lure & guiding boats landing them as well as them showing on the wall. A few mackerel on both walls but can confirm ore than those reported & pictured by the warden so it may have been a couple on each wall or more … unknown as yet. Inshore bass are being caught as well so things are starting to pick up out there…. Here comes summer

happy sunday mac fisheries

So Sunday arrived after a few average days on the wall with a chug over of usual sluggish reports so no posts….. So whats happening ?
Well its my wifes Birthday so Happy **th Mrs P šŸ™‚ . Over to the marina annndddd..

We have squid and some nice plaice pics posted and confirmed news(from both wardens) of mackerel and herring on the east for sure & no doubt on the west also today or very soon .

Time to get some in folks, both walls open 6am til 7pm for now every day unless a weather warning (none so far) shop open 8am daily , come on , pay us a visit , tomorrows the glorious 12th on the wall they say šŸ™‚
