Thurs Update
The east wall will again be open until 10pm for those wanting a go for squid…And then will be closed all weekend from Fri Sat and Sunday , MONDAY TBA
Tuesdays fishing was less active for mackerel than previous days but they did tick over on & off throughout the day and similarly on Wednesday. Tues saw lots of gar fish although many of them were small juveniles and should be returned. Unusual catch of the day Tuesday was a JOHN DORY aka sun fish which rather strangely was caught on a squid jig !
Best of the squid atm are still caught after dark but there have been one or two caught during the daytime hours Other catches have included a few bream still over the high tides mostly , some decent wrasse and a few plaice also still being caught.
Wednesday daytime was much the same story as Tuesday with things starting slowly other than a small morning flurry of mackerel again. Fairly slow going on most species other than those garfish again(please wat ch the sizes as many caught should be returned too at least grow a little.
As the day went on mackerel numbers very slowly increased and again there were Bream & wrasse on certain parts of the wall. Other catches included some bass and conger as well as a hand full of plaice.
As the afternoon wore on there was a slight increase in mackerel catches the best of which were on the bend as as 5pm ticked over their numbers did increase a little as did gars. by 6pm there had been a couple of squid landed 3 or 4 congers , some plaice and sole higher up.
As the light faded there was still some mackerel being caught with a further increase in squid activity. Good numbers of people on the wall yesterday making the 10pm close worth doing so much so that Mark is doing the same again.
Anyone taking advantage of this please bear in mond that the marina is residential and any disturbances will scupper any chances of running later finishes in future so like last night, please try and keep any noise too a minimum and when leaving lease do so quietly ty.
And with that I will sign off until next time and bid you all until then ADIEU
